SaaS promo video storyboard: a 30-second structure that works

Short answer
Open with a hook of one line in the first 3 seconds, show the problem, show the product doing the job with your real screen, give one proof point you can source, and end with one call to action. Five to six scenes fit in 30 seconds.
| Scene | Seconds | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Hook | 0 to 3 | One line that names the buyer's problem or result |
| 2. Problem | 3 to 8 | The cost of the old way, shown in one picture |
| 3. Product | 8 to 18 | Your real screen doing the job, one feature per scene |
| 4. Proof | 18 to 24 | One number or fact you can source (a count, a date, a result) |
| 5. Call to action | 24 to 30 | One action: start, book, try |
Rules that keep it clear
- One idea per scene.
- Captions on every scene, because many viewers watch without sound.
- Real screenshots placed as they are, never redrawn.
- One call to action.

I use this structure for my own service videos: seven scenes in about 52 seconds, each with a caption. You can watch them on the video page.
Questions people ask
How many scenes fit in 30 seconds?
Usually five or six, if each carries one idea.
Should a SaaS promo use captions?
Yes. Many people watch without sound, so on-screen captions keep the message.
