Video brief template: what to send before an animated video starts

By Kai · Updated Oct 19, 2026 · 2 min read

Short answer

Send your product URL or screenshots, logo and brand colors, the goal of the video, the length, the exact words and offer to show, and a reference video if you have one. With these, the first scene can be previewed in your colors.

The six items

  1. Product: URL or screenshots. For SaaS, the screens you want shown.
  2. Brand: logo file, brand colors (hex codes) and fonts.
  3. Goal: launch, ad, explainer, social clip or homepage video.
  4. Length and sizes: 15, 30 or 60 seconds; 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1.
  5. Words: the exact wording and offer to show on screen. Every number must come from you or a named source.
  6. Reference: optional, a video whose pacing you like.

Download the video brief template. It also lists what I will not add to your video: invented testimonials, ratings or statistics.

Then

You get a free 5-second preview of your first scene, a written storyboard to approve, and the build starts from your yes.

Questions people ask

Do I need to send a script?

No. AI drafts the hook, script and storyboard from your brief, and you approve it before anything is rendered.

Can you add testimonials to my video?

Only real ones you supply. I do not invent testimonials, ratings or statistics.
